Humility

I would not appeal to you,
If your heart said not my name.
I would not keep calling you
If my heart said not the same.

I’m not looking for excuses,
Or a word I can’t refute,
Just a reason that has more uses
Than letting Love be mute.

With a love like ours so seemed to me
The sun would burn forever
With our memory’s red-eyed Polaroids
Of the two of us together.

Who was it that realised
That we don’t make that weather?
That we’d have Sunny
And Lovely,
And have that
Then.

Who were we to forecast Beyond Control?
Who am I to hindsight Zen?

It drizzles politely while I finger crumbs,
The hard-drive always hums.
And the boy and the little girl
Live without end.
